Bangladesh Petroleum Tanker Owners Association (BPTOA)

Bangladesh Petroleum Tanker Owners Association (BPTOA) is a Trade Organization registered under T.O. License No. 05/2014, dated: 08-07-2014 from the Ministry of Commerce, Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. Its registered office at Suite # 502, Level-5, Block-C, BGMEA Complex, 23/1, Panthapath Link Road, Kawran Bazar, Dhaka-1215. BPTOA is an “A” Class Member organization of The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FBCCI).

In the year 2009, when the present Government came to Power, acute power deficiency prevailed in the country. To overcome that worst situation and to meet the increasing demand of power, the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh decided to set up several new Power Stations in both private and public sectors in various parts of the country at the farsighted directives from the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. For smooth operation of the Power Stations, the Government was committed to ensuring uninterrupted supply of Diesel & Furnace Oil to the said power stations. So, in order to maintain uninterrupted supply of POL products to the power stations and oil Depots of different destinations as well, urgent initiative was taken to build-up a modern and specialized fleet of Tanker Vessels of International standard.

In response to that initiative of the Government, the entrepreneurs of Bangladesh Petroleum Tanker Owners Association (BPTOA) came forward and built the required number of specialized Tanker Vessels as per Technical Specifications of the “Letter of Intent” from Padma Oil Company Ltd., Meghna Petroleum Limited and Jamuna Oil Company Limited, the subsidiary oil marketing companies under Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) in compliance with the Regulations of International Maritime Organization (IMO), Merchant Shipping Ordinance (MSO), 1983 and Inland Shipping Ordinance (ISO), 1976 under certification of the International Association of Classification Society (IACS).
