Following Bangladesh's Liberation War, six residential model schools & colleges underwent transformation into cadet colleges, including Sylhet Cadet College, Barishal Cadet College, Pabna Cadet College, Ranpur Cadet College, Mymensingh Girls Cadet College, and Cumilla Cadet College. Additionally, Feni Girls Cadet College and Joypurhat Girls Cadet College were established as new additions. Presently, there are nine cadet colleges for boys and three for girls.
Cumilla Cadet College, established on July 1, 1983, emerged from the transformation of Cumilla Residential Model School & College, which commenced its journey in 1968. The transition from model schools & colleges to cadet colleges, spanning from July 1, 1983, to June 30, 1986, was a meticulous and time-consuming process. On April 7, 1984, the inauguration plaque of Cumilla Cadet College was unveiled by Major General MA Samad, psc, the then Chairman of Governing Bodies Of Cadet Colleges and Adjutant General Bangladesh Army.
April 5, 1984, marks a historic milestone for Cumilla Cadet College, as it witnessed the vibrant commencement of the college campus with the arrival of 151 new cadets. Subsequently, cadets were gradually enrolled in classes VII and IX, leading to a total cadet count of 300 by 1985. Nestled amidst the scenic Lalmai Hill at Kotbari, just 1 km south of Cumilla Cantonment, Cumilla Cadet College is surrounded by notable landmarks like the Technical Training Center (TTC) to its east, the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD) to its north, and Shalbon Bihar to its west and south.
The core mission of Cumilla Cadet College revolves around nurturing and preparing young cadets to become future leaders, skilled professionals, and civic/military officers, instilling in them knowledge, strong moral values, a sense of duty, and unwavering patriotism.
