Kamrangirchar, located on the banks of the Buriganga River, is an area with great potential. At one time, it was part of Mohammadpur Thana. Later, Kamrangirchar became part of Lalbagh Thana. In 1998, it was upgraded to a police precinct. Most recently (in 2015), Kamrangirchar Police Precinct was included in three wards (namely 55, 56, and 57) of Dhaka South City Corporation. Our esteemed Ashrafabad High School is located in Ward 57 of Dhaka South City Corporation. Kamrangirchar is one of the most densely populated areas in the country. Despite its proximity to Dhaka Metropolitan City and its extensive population, until 1980, there were no government educational institutions in this area apart from a few primary schools. The literacy rate here was extremely low. The lack of natural and social environment, poverty, and a lack of awareness made it a major challenge for boys and girls in this area to cross the Buriganga River and travel to various parts of Dhaka city for education. Due to the absence of a secondary school, some primary schools in this area served as the only hope for education. So, despite the desire, many faced the difficulty of an extended delay in their education, especially for girls to continue their studies up to the 5th grade. Breaking all these barriers, a young entrepreneur, education enthusiast, and war veteran, Haji Mohammad Solaiman Madbar, along with his father, the eminent social worker Haji Abdul Jalil Madbar, and other notable figures of the area including Haji Ali Imam (Alim), Haji Abdul Kader, Haji Alauddin, Engineer Habibur Rahman, and Isahak Member, took the initiative and established Ashrafabad High School in 1984. From the very beginning, the school surpassed all obstacles and spread the light of education in the area. It is now the premier educational institution in the locality. The school's dedication to education, disciplined management, student population, and success at all levels, along with various educational activities, have marked Ashrafabad High School with enviable success. In recent years, the school has achieved the championship in various sports competitions, including becoming the champion in the "Sheikh Russell Under-14 School Cricket" competition in 2018. From that time until the present (2021), under the capable leadership of Haji Mohammad Solaiman Madbar, the school is advancing rapidly. It is removing the darkness of illiteracy in the area and igniting the torch of light. The program of spreading this torch of light will continue indefinitely, InshaAllah.
