ritas Development Institute (CDI) was established in 1983 as a training and research centre of Caritas Bangladesh. Since its inception, CDI has been playing a vital role in formation and capacity development of Caritas staff, other NGO staff, People's organization, Church and Ethnic Institutions. CDI was declared as a trust of Caritas Bangladesh on 11th January 2010. Since then CDI has been governed under the guidance of a Board of Trustees (BOT). Being a trust of Caritas Bangladesh, CDI got autonomous authority to grow up as an independent national institute for value education, formation and capacity development. Being a training and research centre CDI has been significantly contributing towards promotion and sustainability of Caritas philosophy, values and principles among its development partners.

Mission
CDI aspires to develop human resources through capacitating Caritas Bangladesh, and partner NGOs staff; and Church, ethnic and social institutions for effective and efficient management of their development initiatives in the way of professional, institutional and personnel's management capacities.

Goal
Developing human resources and institutions for sustainable development of CDI development partners.

CDI core values are human dignity, spirituality, inclusiveness, professionalism, equity in men-women relationship, honesty and integrity, participation, justice and peace, mutual respect and sensitivity to environment and bio-diversity.

Core Competencies
a. Have long experienced facilitators for facilitating People-led Organizations (POs).
b. Experience in capacity development of ethnic/indigenous community, Church and leaders of different faiths.
c. Generating and sharing need based information to the grassroots level staff and POs.
d. Conducting value education for encouraging faith based practices irrespective of any religion.
e. Have experience in developing capacity on peace building and conflict resolution.
f. Promote men-women relationship along with sensitive practices within the organization and POs.
g. Maintain strong networks with the local organizations and institutions working in the remote areas
